Privacy Policy for GLBViewer

Welcome to GLBViewer ("we", "our", or "the App"), developed by Yiharng Huang. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the GLBViewer mobile application on Android and iOS devices.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. GLBViewer is designed to be a lightweight, secure 3D model viewer that respects your personal information and file privacy.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

  • No Personal Account Required: GLBViewer does not require user registration, account creation, or login. We do not collect your name, email address, physical address, phone number, contacts, or passwords.
  • No Upload of Your 3D Models: When you open, drag and drop, or view 3D model files (such as .glb, .gltf, .obj, .stl, .fbx, .dae, .3ds, .gcode, .3mf), all file parsing and 3D rendering are processed strictly locally on your device via WebGL. Your 3D models are never uploaded, transmitted, or stored on any external server.

2. Information Handled Locally on Your Device

  • App Settings and Preferences: The App uses on-device local storage (localStorage and NativeStorage) exclusively to store your preferred settings, such as UI language choice and display mode. This data remains on your device and is not shared with us or any external parties.

3. Third-Party Services and Advertising

To support the ongoing maintenance and development of GLBViewer, the App integrates Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK) to serve advertisements.

Data Collected by Google AdMob

Google AdMob may automatically collect and process certain information from your device in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy, including:

  • Device Identifiers: Such as Google Advertising ID (AAID) on Android, or Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) on iOS (only with your explicit consent).
  • IP Address: Used for approximate geographic location (country or city level) to serve relevant ads and prevent ad fraud.
  • Usage & Diagnostic Information: Ad interactions, impressions, and performance/crash metrics.

European Economic Area (EEA) & UK Users (GDPR)

We implement Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to present consent management options to users located in the EEA and UK. You can choose whether to allow personalized ads or non-personalized ads, and you may review or modify your consent settings at any time within the App.

iOS Users (App Tracking Transparency)

On iOS devices (iOS 14.5 and later), the App requests your permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework before accessing your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) for ad tracking purposes. You can modify this permission at any time in your device settings (Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking).

Opting Out of Interest-Based Advertising

You can manage or reset your advertising identifier directly in your device system settings:

  • Android: Settings > Google > Ads > Delete advertising ID or Reset advertising ID.
  • iOS: Settings > Privacy & Security > Apple Advertising > Turn off Personalized Ads.

5. Data Retention and Security

Because we do not operate remote databases storing your personal data or 3D files, we do not retain your personal information on our servers.

For third-party services (such as Google AdMob), data retention and security measures comply with Google's robust security standards and privacy practices.

6. Children's Privacy

GLBViewer is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children. If you believe that a child has provided personal information to third-party services through our App, please contact us immediately so we can investigate and address the issue.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted within the App or repository with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
